Child support can be the most contested issue when it comes to couples getting a divorce. It can be highly contentious and if a litigation lawyer is involved, not only will the discussions cost a fortune, the best solutions with the child or children in mind may not be taken. At A fair Way Mediation Center, we have over 30 years experience in divorce mediation services and have helped couples come to a child support agreement in a peaceful manner. Our goal as well is to keep the children in mind when making these decisions so they have a solid foundation for a great future.
Another great aspect of mediation is that each individual has the opportunity to speak about the child support needs and work to come to a mutually beneficial agreement for both parties. We will also discuss activities your child may be enrolled in and how these expenses should be covered.

What are your incomes?
Even if it is difficult to discuss incomes, when it comes to a divorce and child support, this will be a critical issue that needs to be brought to both parties attention. In most cases one parent earns a majority more than the other and this needs to be discussed before it ends up in the hands of a divorce lawyer and the courts. This could end up costing way more money than working things out together.
If there happens to be a dispute as to whether a particular source of income should count in the child support calculation, A Fair Way Mediation will voice the opinion for both parties in an attempt to play the tiebreaker so both parties are in agreemnet.
We Don't Take Sides
This is a crucial elemente of divorce mediation servics, more importantly when it comes to child support issues. We do not represent one individual or the other, but work as the primary go between to sort out the issues including child support to come to a mutually beneficial agreement for both individuals.
We never want clients to feel as if we are taking sides with one of the other, as this creates more conflict and can stop the communication process for the person who feels they are not being heard fairly.
