Virtual Divorce – Mediation Has it Covered

In today's growing world of technology, it is not uncommon for A Fair Way Mediation to help couples with divorce mediation services in a "virtual" setting. We have successfully helped 100s of couples obtain the same results as they would in person, via an online setting such as messenger chat, zoom video, skype, and good ol' fashioned conference calls. This works especially well when either couples are aren't able to get along well in person, or they are no longer living near each other and need to complete the divorce virtually.

As the last few years have changed the way business and communication is conducted, video conference calls have become the new norm for communication efforts. This is nothing new for divorce mediation proceedings, it has always been offered as an alternative to in-person meetings if needed. With the same approach, A Fair Way Mediation is adpet at using virtual platforms to help provide guidance to couples who are navigating the divorce process.

Prepare for Your Virtual Conference

When you get ready for a divorce or are exploring your divorce options, as with most things in life, it is important to be prepared. Being prepared helps you both save time and money while moving the process along. Before virtual divorce mediation proceedings we will send you a list of items to discuss to help you prepare and maximize the time on the call.

Such preparations that will help move things include include:

Detailed financial documents (copies of tax returns, income and expenses and other legal documents)
List of Assets (both separate and shared)
Medical records (if spouse or children have medical issues, bring records that support claims for custody or support)
Proof of Misconduct (if divorce is because of abuse of spouse or children, substance abuse, or lack of financial support, provide records that support those issues)

Knowledgeable Users are Important for Success

To make your virtual conference mediation session a success, your mediator should be comfortable with the technology that's used. Beforehand, the divorce mediator should make sure that all participants involved are familiar with the chosen platform and its basic features and functions. It is also important to have good audio quality and if possible, use ear phones to make sure that you are able to hear everything clearly. There is nothing more difficult than poorly functioning technology, this can cause the divorce mediation session to stall and extend the overall process.
